چکیده

A self-consistent calculation scheme for correlated electron systems is created based on the density-functional theory (DFT). Our scheme is a multi-reference DFT (MR-DFT) calculation in which the electron charge density is reproduced by an auxiliary interacting Fermion system. A short-range Hubbard-type interaction is introduced by a rigorous manner with a residual term for the exchange-correlation energy. The Hubbard term is determined uniquely by referencing the density fluctuation at a selected localized orbital. This strategy to obtain an extension of the Kohn-Sham scheme provides a self-consistent electronic structure calculation for the materials design. Introducing an approximation for the residual exchange-correlation energy functional, we have the LDA+U energy functional. Practical self-consistent calculations are exemplified by simulations of Hydrogen systems, i.e. a molecule and a periodic one-dimensional array, which is a proof of existence of the interaction strength U as a continuous function of the local fluctuation and structural parameters of the system. ‡ This paper is to be published in J. Phys. Condens. Matter (2007). A first-principles calculation for correlated electron systems 2

A Self-Consistent Technique for the Construction and Evaluation of the Three-Parameter Corresponding States Principles

A self-consistent approach for the evaluation of the existing three-parameter corresponding states principles of non-polar fluids and the calculation of the corresponding states parameters is presented. This self consistent approach is based upon the assumption that the contribution of the third parameter to the thermophysical properties is much smaller than the contributions of the first two p...

First-principles calculations of the electronic structure and spectra of strongly correlated systems:dynamical mean-field theory

A recently developed dynamical mean-field theory in the iterated perturbation theory approximation was used as a basis for construction of the ”first principles” calculation scheme for investigating electronic structure of strongly correlated electron systems. This scheme is based on Local Density Approximation (LDA) in the framework of the Linearized Muffin-Tin-Orbitals (LMTO) method. The clas...

Determination of the Mott insulating transition by the multi-reference density functional theory.

It is shown that a momentum boost technique applied to the extended Kohn-Sham scheme enables the computational determination of the Mott insulating transition. Self-consistent solutions are given for correlated electron systems by first-principles calculations defined by the multi-reference density functional theory, in which the effective short-range interaction can be determined by the fluctu...

Optimization of the Jastrow factor in the correlated wave function of electrons using the first-principles transcorrelated method for solid-state calculations

The transcorrelated (TC) method is one of the wave-function-based methods used for first-principles electronic structure calculations, and in terms of the computational cost is applicable to solid-state calculation. In this method, a many-body wave function of electrons is approximated as a product of the Jastrow factor and the Slater determinant, and the first-principles Hamiltonian is similar...

Iterative Perturbation Theory for Strongly Correlated Electron Systems with Orbital Degeneracy

A new scheme of the iterative perturbation theory is proposed for the strongly correlated electron systems with orbital degeneracy. The method is based on the modified self-energy of Yeyati, et al. which interpolates between the weak and the strong correlation limits, but a much simpler scheme is proposed which is useful in the case of the strong correlation with orbital degeneracy. It will be ...
